The General Store of Catskill, a local gift shop with a focus on bath, body and wellness products, has opened on Historic Main Street in Catskill, NY!
The store, which sells homemade and American-made items using only natural ingredients, opened on Memorial Day Weekend 2015. Still new to the Greene County community, Ashley Seeley, owner of The General Store of Catskill, is thrilled to be a part of the growth in Catskill.
Ashley comes from a merchandising background, most recently as the North America Merchandise Manager for Converse Apparel. She is extremely mindful of every product she chooses for her shop, as she only chooses products she absolutely adores. “When someone picks up something off a shelf with excitement, I can’t help but be excited again about the product I chose!” says Ashley.
While Ashley is confident in her products, she has faced marketing challenges that come along with starting any small business. Although she is presented with the challenges, she is powerful on social media and strives to achieve her marketing goals.
“My advice to any small start-up is simple. Make sure the shop is your passion!” says enthusiastic owner, Ashley Seeley. “No matter where you are, being a small business owner is tough, but if you’re doing what you love, then it all evens out.”
The General Store of Catskill receives new products all the time so there’s always something fresh and new for you to browse and buy when you stop by the shop!
