CATSKILL — A husband and wife team have opened up a new cleanup and restoration business in the village of Catskill.

The ribbon cutting for the the 24/7 emergency service franchise SERVPRO took place Thursday afternoon at the Maple Avenue location.

SERVPRO is a water and fire restoration remediation cleanup business which handles everything from general cleanups like carpet and duct cleaning to sewage backups, frozen pipes, trauma scenes and heavy-duty cleanups.

Launched in 1967 by Ted and Doris Isaacson in Sacramento, California, SERVPRO was initially a painting business. With a background in cleaning and restoration, the Isaacsons transformed and sold their first franchise in 1969. Now based in Gallatin, Tennessee, SERVPRO boasts more than 1,650 franchises nationwide, according to their website.
